Co-Evaluation of Plant Leaf Nutrient Concentrations and Resorption in Response to Fertilization under Different Nutrient-Limited Conditions

چکیده
Plant leaf nutrient concentrations and resorption are sensitive to fertilization, yet their co-responses under different nutrient-limited conditions have not been well studied. We conducted a meta-analysis from global dataset of 43 reports, including 130 observations studies with plant nitrogen (N) or phosphorus (P) efficiency (NRE) (PRE), in response fertilization divided by the thresholds N:P ratio values 10 20. The results showed that N generally increased concentration decreased NRE, greater magnitudes N-limited conditions. P also PRE, P-limited PRE only condition. Under co-limited conditions, however, did change PRE. Moreover, all but significantly NRE These findings suggest plants cope fertilization-induced limitation vs. at level nutrient-use strategies.

Oxygen consumption rates of bacteria under nutrient-limited conditions.
Many environments on Earth experience nutrient limitation and as a result have nongrowing or very slowly growing bacterial populations. To better understand bacterial respiration under environmentally relevant conditions, the effect of nutrient limitation on respiration rates of heterotrophic bacteria was measured. The oxygen consumption and population density of batch cultures of Escherichia c...
متن کاملResponse of plant nutrient stoichiometry to fertilization varied with plant tissues in a tropical forest
Plant N:P ratios are widely used as indices of nutrient limitation in terrestrial ecosystems, but the response of these metrics in different plant tissues to altered N and P availability and their interactions remains largely unclear. We evaluated changes in N and P concentrations, N:P ratios of new leaves (<1 yr), older leaves (>1 yr), stems and mixed fine roots of seven species after 3-years ...
متن کاملLeaf nutrient variation in mature carob (Ceratonia siliqua) trees in response to irrigation and fertilization.
Seasonal variations in leaf nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium concentrations were studied in a mature carob (Ceratonia siliqua L. cv "Mulata") orchard subjected to a 4-year irrigation and fertilization experiment. Three irrigation regimes (0, 50 and 100%), based on the evaporation values obtained from a class A pan, were tested in combination with two nitrogen (N) supply regimes in which 21 kg...
متن کاملNutrient uptake of peanut genotypes under different water regimes
Drought is a serious environmental stress limiting growth and productivity in peanut and other crops. Nutrient uptake of peanut is reduced under drought condition, which reduces yield. The objectives of this study were to investigate nutrient uptake of peanut genotypes in response to drought and to estimate the relationship between nutrient uptake and peanut yield under different water regi...
متن کاملPlant invasion is associated with higher plant-soil nutrient concentrations in nutrient-poor environments.
Plant invasion is an emerging driver of global change worldwide. We aimed to disentangle its impacts on plant-soil nutrient concentrations. We conducted a meta-analysis of 215 peer-reviewed articles and 1233 observations. Invasive plant species had globally higher N and P concentrations in photosynthetic tissues but not in foliar litter, in comparison with their native competitors. Invasive pla...
